Encoding

The locale for my system is Unicode. Sometimes, when I use xchat or when I view a text file with xterm, umlauts are not displayed properly because the encoding is ISO-8859-1. So the commands are:

LC_ALL="en_US.ISO-8859-1" xterm

or

LC_ALL="en_US.ISO-8859-1" xchat
